Sr. Manager, Chief of Staff for Global Card, Privacy, Third Party, and Enterprise Services Compliance

The Global Card Compliance (GCC) Senior Compliance Officer (SCO) is seeking a Chief of Staff (CoS) to serve as a strategic partner and direct report. This role will have broad responsibility for helping to ensure that GCC and the GCC SCO's organization, which includes US Card, Premium Products, Business Cards & Payments, Canada Card, UK Card, Enterprise Services, Privacy, and Third Party Compliance, is well managed, coordinated, and engaged in pursuit of Capital One's mission to Change Banking for Good. To further those objectives, the CoS will have broad visibility into the initiatives and priorities of the Compliance & Ethics (C&E) and broader Enterprise Risk Organizations (ERO).

For this role, we are seeking a highly-motivated professional with excellent project management, problem-solving, and written and verbal communication skills. The ideal candidate is a big-picture thinker, who is organized, a self-starter, demonstrates sound judgment, and has a passion for continuous improvement and process efficiency. The CoS will work closely with the GCC SCO and his Senior Leadership Team (SLT) on organizational goals and objectives, including by devising initiatives to drive team engagement, building and refining leadership governance routines, planning and orchestrating Town Halls and People Leader Forums, planning and drafting GCC SCO communications, tracking and managing the budget, and identifying issues that require prioritized attention and escalation, as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the organization's point of contact with the CoS teams for the Card line of business, ERO, and C&E
  • Coordinate participation by the SCO/GCC and his SLT in Board and senior management committee meetings, including the Audit and Risk Committees of the Board of Directors and the Technology, Operational, Compliance, and Cyber Risk and Executive Risk Committees
  • Develop an integrated view of the various leadership teams on which team members participate (including those led by the Chief Enterprise Risk Officer and Chief Compliance Officer and business division and unit leaders) and strategize ways to enhance our contributions and expand our influence in those forums through pre-meeting preparation and post-meeting information sharing
  • Evaluate routines and processes that meaningfully impact the GCC SCO and his leadership team and identify and implement changes, improvements, and refinements
  • Identify ways to engage and inspire the team to do their best work by supporting and promoting training and development, including pursuit of job-related accreditations and certifications
  • Develop an integrated strategy for spurring team engagement and promoting inclusion and belonging through Town Halls and People Leader Forums, team fun days, and regular team-wide communications and programming, with an emphasis on information and context sharing, among other initiatives and activities
  • Elevate and track progress against ERO, C&E, and team imperatives to ensure we are making meaningful progress and to provide visibility and transparency to our team
  • Develop a team-specific new-hire onboarding program; analyzing and distributing team-wide All Associate Survey results to management and the team, noting areas of strength and opportunity; and celebrating and recognizing associates through various forms of recognition
  • Track reports, assessments, and submissions that require the GCC SCO approval to ensure sufficient time for review and final approval
  • Partner with Regulatory Relations to support preparations for quarterly Card Compliance meetings with our regulators, including organizing team materials and presentations and follow-up submissions
  • Serve as the coordinating lead with the Finance team on budgetary matters and support SLT members in meeting their targets
  • Build a process, leveraging existing and developing tools, for monitoring and sharing industry developments, including pointing the team to news stories and other resources to ensure we are staying abreast of relevant trends and enforcement actions
  • Partner with the GCC SCO's administrative assistant to ensure appropriate time management, prioritizing meetings by importance and time-sensitivity and carving out sufficient work and planning time
